Palazzo dei Capitani (Palace of the Captains) | Malcesine, Italy
Palazzo dei Capitani sits right on the edge of Lake Garda in Malcesine. Originally built by the Scaligeri family in the 13th–14th centuries, it later became the residence of Venice’s “Captain of the Lake,” who oversaw the trade routes across the water. Today it’s used as a public library, exhibition space and wedding venue. I loved the way all that history still opens straight out onto the lake.
