Griff Leodis is the photography of Stephen Griffiths, based in Leeds, Yorkshire.

I’m drawn to people, place, light and the human environment — the little moments, old buildings, worn details, shadows and bits of everyday life that make somewhere feel real.

A lot of the work starts simply by wandering. Around Leeds that might mean old mills, Victorian streets, industrial buildings and the way the modern city has grown around them. Further afield, it usually means walking European streets with a camera in one hand and gelato in the other, looking for whatever makes me stop and look twice.

I’ve always been more interested in the things happening around the postcard view than the postcard itself. A person passing through a patch of light, a doorway that looks like it has a story, a faded sign, a reflection, an old wall beside something completely modern — those are the things I tend to notice.

Photography became a way for me to slow down and pay closer attention to places, whether they’re a few miles from home or somewhere I’ve never been before.

Griff Leodis is really about that simple idea: finding something ordinary, noticing it properly, and making it worth another look.
